The Australian Government has announced that the national 3G network is closing to improve the speed and reliability of the 4G and 5G networks. Network providers in Australia such as Telstra, Optus and TPG Telecom/Vodafone will close their 3G networks.
Network Closure Dates:
Telstra will close their 3G network from 28 October 2024.
Optus will close their 3G network from 28 October 2024.
TPG Telecom/Vodafone has already closed their 3G mobile network as of January 2024.
How the 3G shutdown affects F&P SleepStyle devices wireless data transfer:
The 3G cellular network shutdown means that the 3G cellular modem that’s inbuilt into the F&P SleepStyle device will no longer wirelessly upload the patient’s sleep data to the InfoSmart™ Web cloud. This shutdown will not have any effect on the ability of the F&P SleepStyle device to provide therapy or the quality of therapy that’s delivered.
However, you and your patients can still upload and access sleep data in other convenient ways.
Alternative ways to uploading data to InfoSmart Web:
Therapy data from the F&P SleepStyle device can be uploaded to InfoSmart Web via the SleepStyle App or the device’s F&P InfoUSB™. These easy and convenient ways are outlined in the data transfer alternatives document. You can also refer to section “5.2.1 SleepStyle website” of the F&P SleepStyle Use & Care Manual.
How to differentiate between F&P SleepStyle devices with 3G or 4G?
In anticipation of the 3G network shutdown, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare have transitioned new F&P SleepStyle devices to 4G modem capability. You will know if an F&P SleepStyle device has 4G modem capability when the batch number and starting serial number exceeds the following:
Batch No: 2102463764 | Starting Serial No: 22122NK8N
For further queries please contact our F&P Sales Representatives who will be able to assist you and refer to documents below on alternative options for data transfer.
Cellular services are dependent on network availability in Australia, which may change at anytime.
