Auckland, New Zealand, 22 March 2013 - The Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Right Honourable John Key, today officially opened Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's new building in Auckland.
The new building has been named the Paykel Building, in recognition of the contribution to the company of former Chairman and current board member, Gary Paykel CNZM.
The NZ$95 million, 32,000 square metre facility will accommodate growth in research and development, clinical marketing, new product manufacturing and a logistics hub for shipments to more than 120 countries around the world.
The company's Chairman, Tony Carter said, "Innovation continues to drive this business and we are regularly introducing new products which significantly improve effectiveness and efficiency of care for millions of patients. This facility reflects our commitment to continuing to innovate here in New Zealand".
Fisher & Paykel Healthcare anticipates that the total number of people employed on its Auckland site, over three buildings, will increase from 1,700 at present to more than 2,500 over time. The Auckland facilities will support future growth in the company's annual research and development investment to more than NZ$80 million and growth in revenue to more than a billion dollars.
