Thoroughly cleaning your CPAP gear reduces dirt buildup
It's important to clean your mask regularly to reduce a buildup of dirt, pathogens and allergens, but how often should you clean your CPAP* gear?
In general, most of the mask parts should be cleaned daily while the headgear can be washed weekly.
Below are general guidelines for cleaning. For full instructions on cleaning your specific mask, please refer to the user instructions. You can view F&P Healthcare product-care resources here.
Daily
- Disassemble the mask.
- Wash the seal and frame in soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow it to dry completely, out of direct sunlight.
- Remove breathing tube from the CPAP machine. Wash tube with soapy water.
- Rinse the tube and allow to air dry.
Weekly
- Wash the headgear in soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely, out of direct sunlight.
