Effectively fitting your mask will help deliver therapy success
Effectively fitting your CPAP* will ultimately provide you with a secure seal and a comfortable night’s sleep – and that is what will help you to be consistently successful with your CPAP therapy.
But working out how to put on your mask to get the best results is not always easy, especially when you are new to CPAP therapy or switching between mask styles.
Each mask design has a different fitting process, and some masks of the same design may even require adjustments for an ideal fit.
To begin, ensure you have the right mask for you. Take your sleeping style, breathing preferences, and facial features into account when deciding on what mask to purchase. Ask a health professional for advice.
Once you have chosen your mask, always refer to the manufacturer’s user instructions that come with your mask.
Some companies, such as Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, also provide therapy users with videos and apps to help them fit, maintain, and clean their masks.
